Titel:
Integral Solutions for Fuselage Shells

Zusammenfassung:
Differentially built up aluminium structures, using riveting and bonding processes have been proven successfully on aircraft structures over the last decades. This design has nearly permitted the highest degree of required performance level and automation in production so that further weight and cost reduction is largely exhausted. Further improvements can only be obtained by a fundamental different design approach. EADS Airbus Germany has worked out within a government funded technology project new concepts for integrally stiffened fuselage structures using Laser Beam Welding technique. This challenge needs a highly interdisciplinary proceeding with respect to material, process, stress, design and quality assurance aspects.
