Zusammenfassung:
This paper discusses commonly occurring in-service damage in composite structures and its effect on static strength and fatigue life of structures. Commonly used methods of repairing damage in composite structures are outlined. Finally, the concept of repairing cracked metallic structures with bonded composite patches is discussed. The predicted crack growth in repaired structures is compared with experimentally observed crack growth and an excellent correlation is shown between the two.
