It is the objective of this paper to show industry needs with respect to the two main subjects which have a major impact on structural maintenance foraging aircraft: the assessment of widespread fatigue damage (WFD) and the inspection technologies. Emphasis has been put on shortfalls in the field of WFD and improved requirements regarding inspection methods from a manufacturers point of view.
