An overview of research activities in Europe related to technical issues for ageing aircraft has been done. Unlike the situation in the US, there is no specific research programme directly focused on ageing aircraft problems in Europe. Instead, there are several other work forms in which aeronautical research is done. Lack of a specific programme will make this overview rather divided and not so systematic but will illustrate the situation. The overview covers ongoing and proposed research activities in joint programmes like: - BRITE/EURAM, Pilot phase - BRITE/EURAM, IMT phase - GARTEUR - National projects - Industrial research Objectives and, if available, achievements of related projects are summarized.
