Zusammenfassung:
In the five years which have passed since the "Aloha" incident radical change has been imposed on the aircraft industry worldwide. In Europe aircraft manufacturers have been intimately involved in the work being undertaken to ensure the continued airworthiness of the older machines and to employ the lessons learnt into the new products. Corrosion control programmes, have been produced and new rules for the assessment of structural repairs in service together with the introduction of damage tolerance and multi-site damage (MSD) considerations are presently being prepared. Developments in non-destructive testing are available to assist in the detection of corrosion damage and the post fatigue test tear down of structure assists in the prediction of MSD. The Anglo-French Concorde SST is an ageing aircraft. Its continued airworthiness has been supported by similar work being done on the sub-sonic fleet.
