After a brief recall of the different kind of boundary layer instabilities encontered on a wing, we present the industrial state of the art for boundary layer and linear stability analysis as well as transition prediction. As validation, we present comparison between two boundary layer codes and two linear stability analysis code. Validation of a data base method for two dimensional compressible linear stability analysis including wall heat transfer is also presented. Discussion on the validity of transition criteria on a wing in wind tunnel tests is made and flight tests results on FALCON 50 are briefly introduced. In the last section, comparison between linear stability analysis and direct simulation of the DLR experiment is presented.
