Titel:
Fundamental Studies Related to Laminar-Turbulent Transition Problems on Swept Wings
Autor(en):

Zusammenfassung:
This paper presents a survey of experimental and theoretical activities dealing with the problem of the laminar-turbulent transition on swept wings, in incompressible flow. Three problems are studied successively: leading edge contamination, boundary layer tripping by isolated roughness elements, "natural" transition with suction. In the first two cases, the measurements are compared with empirical criteria. When suction is applied, the experimental transition locations are compared with the predictions provided by the linear stability theory and the e^n method.
