Active Vibration Control on Flexible Structures, with Piezoelectric Devices

In this article, we propose a coupled numerical and experimental study concerning the active vibration control, on flexible structures, by piezoelectric devices. The calculations have been made using a model of plate equipped with piezoelectric wafers which is summarized very quickly here. Tests have been implemented on two cases of structures: a beam and a plate. The controls that concern only the first vibration modes, are closed loop controls, using the piezoelectric wafers sticken on the structures, as sensor and actuator. Experimental results are given for several configurations of excitation (release, sinusoidal excitation, white noise excitation). Precise studies have been made versus the voltage values applied to the piezoelectric actuators, and versus the amplitudes of excitation. Comparisons between the tests and the numerical simulations, specially in case of the release configurations, have given satisfactory results.
